I have accuracy and playback issues (drift, jumps, skips), what can I do?

Symptom and description

It may happen to notice a difference between feeling and audio. For instance, you could feel the cue points drift when you are scratching with Phase, or experience skips or jumps in the track when mixing with Phase. This is probably due to an information loss between the Remotes and the Receiver, thus slightly moving the playhead or the cue point forward or backward.

Issue resolution

First make sure that when taking the Remotes out of the Receiver, you allow their sensors to calibrate on a flat and still surface. The Remote should remain absolutely motionless as long as the LED goes back and forth. When it turns solid, the Remote can be moved or spinned.

Here's a manipulation that should remove the drift:
  • Put the Remotes in the Receiver and open Phase Manager
  • Reset the two Remotes (by clicking "Reset Remote A" then "Reset Remote B" in Phase Manager's advanced settings)
  • Link the Remotes to the Receiver again (long-press the setup button until the blink)
  • Take the Remotes out, and let them sit on a flat and still surface until their LED is solid.
  • Then, you can spin your records and use them
  • Finally, run a manual calibration (Calibration menu of Phase Manager) to perfectly match your Remotes' BPM with your turntables.

Also, don't hesitate to watch our short video showing you how set up your Remotes before use.

If you're still experiencing some drift after following all these steps, since this problem might be partly due to the fact that the radio connection is disrupted by the environment, there are several things you can do to drastically reduce this problem, detailed hereafter.

  • If you're using using Serato DJ Pro, we recommend to use Phase in HID mode, as described in this setup article
  • Link the Remotes to the Receiver, even if they are already linked. Place them into the Receiver and long press the A and B setup buttons. This operation assigns new radio channels for the Remotes and the Receiver to communicate. Don't hesitate to give it several tries until you find radio channels that improve the feeling.
  • Make sure your Receiver is as close as possible to the Remotes, and that no heavy object could hinder the radio communication.
  • Try disabling the WiFi and Bluetooth on your laptop to make sure that it doesn't create interferences with the Phase radio communication.
  • Activate the "Boost radio signal" function (Phase Manager, advanced settings) to get better performances (the battery will drain faster).
