WiFi issue while using Phase Essential: how to fix it ?

Modified on Fri, 4 Sep at 6:18 PM

Phase communicates between the Remotes and the Receiver every millisecond. This continuous transmission occupies the 2.4 GHz radio band almost constantly, which can in rare cases disrupt other devices on the same band: WiFi networks, smart speakers, or connected lighting (Alexa, Philips Hue, etc.).

Steps

  1. Switch your smart home devices or router to the 5 GHz band
The 5 GHz band is completely separate from the 2.4 GHz band Phase uses. If your router and devices support it, switching to 5 GHz permanently eliminates the interference.
  2. Manually change the WiFi channel on your router
The 2.4 GHz band is divided into channels. Setting your router to channel 1, 6, or 11 (the three non-overlapping channels) may move your WiFi signal away from the one Phase is using.
  3. Disable Radio Boost in Phase Manager
Radio Boost increases the transmission power of the Remotes, which amplifies interference in a normal room. Go to Settings > Advanced Settings in Phase Manager and make sure Radio Boost is turned off.
  4. Re-pair the Remotes
Re-pairing forces Phase to negotiate new radio channels. Place the Remotes in the Receiver and long-press the A and B buttons for 3 seconds. Repeat 2 to 3 times if the first attempt does not resolve the issue.

If the issue persists after all these steps, get in touch with the team.
