If you own a Phase Ultimate, or bought an extra pair of Remotes, you can switch from one pair to the other mid-set without stopping the music. Here is how to do it cleanly.
In this example, Remotes A and B are spinning on your turntables. Remotes C and D are docked in the Receiver.
Steps
- Switch both virtual decks to internal mode
Do this in your DJ software before anything else. - Link Remotes C and D to the Receiver
Long-press the buttons on Remotes C and D until the LEDs flash. - Swap the Remotes on the turntables
Stop your turntables, take Remotes A and B off, and place Remotes C and D on the platters. - Wait for the LEDs to turn solid
Keep Remotes C and D still. Solid LEDs mean the internal sensors are calibrated and the Remotes are ready. - Spin the turntables
- Switch both virtual decks back to REL or WIR mode
You are now controlling your tracks with the new pair of Remotes.
Important: do not re-link Remotes A and B
Once Remotes C and D are active, do not link Remotes A and B to the Receiver. If they get linked, they will take control of the tracks and override C and D. Place them in the dock to charge, but do not press the link buttons.
Practice before your gig
Try this a few times during practice before doing it live. Once you have the sequence down, it only takes a few seconds.
