How to play a B2B set with Phase Essential

There are two ways to run a B2B set with Phase Essential, depending on your mode and setup.

Option 1: DVS mode (one Phase, two laptops)

This option works with all DJ software. One Phase unit controls both decks, each DJ plays from their own laptop.

What you need:

• 1 Phase Essential
• 2 laptops with DJ software
• A mixer with two USB outputs (USB A and USB B)

Steps :

1. Connect the Phase Receiver to any USB power source (laptop or wall outlet).
2. Connect the mixer's USB A to laptop A and USB B to laptop B.
3. Both DJs select REL mode in their software.
4. Each DJ controls one deck with one Remote.

Option 2: HID mode (two Phase units, two laptops)

This option requires a DJ software with Phase HID integration (Serato DJ Pro, Rekordbox, Virtual DJ, djay Pro) and one Phase unit per laptop.

What you need:

• 2 Phase Essential units
• 2 laptops with a Phase HID-compatible software
• A mixer with two USB outputs (USB A and USB B)

Steps : 

1. Connect Phase A to laptop A. In your DJ software, assign deck 1 to USB A.
2. Connect Phase B to laptop B. In your DJ software, assign deck 2 to USB B.
3. Both DJs select HID mode in their software.
4. Each DJ has full control over their turntable from their own laptop.

Note: when switching between laptops, the outgoing laptop's audio will be cut briefly.
