Phase Essential Remote swollen / bulging battery: what to do

Modified on Fri, 4 Sep at 5:43 PM

If you notice a bulge under the LED of one of your Remotes, the battery has expanded inside the casing.

This can happen over time on Li-ion batteries and does not represent a safety hazard for you or your gear.

The main consequence is that the Remote may no longer charge correctly, or its LED blinks red and it turns off when taken out of the Receiver.

What to do

  1. Stop using the Remote and do not attempt to charge it.
  2. Get in touch with the team using the button below. Include a photo clearly showing the bulge when submitting your request. This will help process it faster.
  3. We will exchange the Remote and cover shipping fees.

Not sure if your Remote is swollen?

A swollen battery is usually visible to the naked eye, but it can sometimes be hard to tell. Place the Remote face down (LED side against the surface) on a flat table, then press gently on each end with two fingers:

  • The Remote stays completely still: the battery is fine.
  • The Remote rocks slightly: the casing has been pushed out by the swelling.

Remote has a bulge?
The Phase team will take care of it.
