Setting up Phase Essential with Traktor Pro + most common issues

Phase Essential works with Traktor Pro in DVS mode via RCA cables. There is no HID integration between Phase and Traktor at this time. This guide covers the full setup and the most common issues.

What you need

• Phase Essential up to date with Firmware 9
• Any version of Traktor Pro
• A DVS mixer or DVS soundcard
• RCA cables (included with Phase Essential)
• A USB connection to power the Phase Receiver

How to set up Phase Essential with Traktor Pro in DVS mode

1. Connect your DVS mixer or soundcard to your computer.
2. Power the Phase Receiver via USB (computer or 5V wall charger).
3. Connect the RCA cables from the Phase Receiver to the LINE inputs of your mixer or DVS soundcard. Set the input selector to LINE (not PHONO).
4. In Phase Manager's Setup tab, set the DVS signal to Traktor.
5. Open Traktor Pro. Enable DVS in the settings and set each deck to Relative mode. In the Audio Setup tab, make sure your DVS mixer or soundcard is selected.
6. Place the Remotes on your turntable platters and let them calibrate.

Common Setup Issues

No signal, or Traktor does not respond to turntable motion

• Check the mixer's input selector is set to LINE, not PHONO
• Check the DVS signal in Phase Manager is set to Traktor
• Check that the decks in Traktor are in Relative mode
• Check that your DVS mixer or soundcard is selected in Traktor's Audio Setup tab

Traktor shows a "Calibration failed" message
This is a display issue only and does not affect tracking. To disable it: open Traktor Preferences > Global Settings > uncheck Enable deck header warning.

Drifting remotes after a backspin
Cue point may drift after an aggressive backspin is a known issue specific to Traktor. It does not occur during scratching or regular mixing. To reduce the impact, place both Remotes into the Receiver and long-press the A and B buttons to re-pair them. 

Calibration does not finish, or tracking feels imprecise
Keep the Remote completely still on a flat surface until the LED turns solid. For tighter accuracy, run a Manual Calibration from Phase Manager (Settings > Calibration) with the Remote spinning at 0% pitch.
