How to power Phase and optimize the battery life

Modified on Tue, 16 Jun at 3:31 PM

Everything you need to know about powering the Receiver, charging the Remotes, and getting the most out of your battery.

Powering the Receiver

Phase turns on when you plug in the USB cable and turns off when you unplug it. You can use any of the following power sources:

  • A USB port on your computer
  • A powered USB hub
  • A wall outlet with a standard USB brick charger (5V, minimum 500mA)

Two small LEDs at the back of the Receiver (above the USB port) confirm proper operation:

  • Lightning icon: the Receiver is powered.
  • Connect icon: the Receiver is communicating with your computer. If you use a wall outlet, only the lightning icon lights up. That is normal.

Important: The Receiver is designed for a maximum of 5V. Using a charger that delivers more than 5V can permanently damage the unit. Always check your charger specs before plugging in.

Can I power Phase from my mixer's USB hub?

In most cases yes, but some mixers do not deliver enough current. If you see red flashing LEDs on the Remotes, or a "USB Accessories disabled" message on screen, the mixer port is underpowered. Use your computer's USB port or a powered hub instead.

Charging the Remotes

Place the Remotes into the Receiver docks. Charging starts automatically as long as the Receiver is powered.

  • Charging animation: the LED strip fills upward on the Remotes, and the Receiver dots move outward.
  • Full charge: LEDs turn solid and animations stop. A full charge from empty takes about 2 hours.
  • Battery life: up to 10 hours per charge.
  • Leaving the Remotes in the dock once fully charged does not damage the batteries.

Battery tips

  • Do not fully discharge the Remotes and then store them for a long time without recharging.
  • Do not use a fast charger. It can damage the unit.
  • If you are not using Phase for an extended period, charge the Remotes at least every 6 months.
  • Always run the latest firmware for the best battery performance.
  • The Radio Boost feature in Phase Manager increases signal strength but also drains the battery faster. Only enable it if you are having signal issues.
